Case Study: 'This has been a great improvement. I would definitely recommend it and do it again'

Our client Jackie S. has experienced three of our PRP procedures, and she recently took time to talk with us about her PRP results.

Halo: Can you tell us why you came to Halo initially and what you were looking to achieve?

Jackie: I was hoping to get a boost - to have a little better look of youthfulness at my age. I am 50 and wanted to get ahead of the curve a little bit. It was a great solution to having to try out several different types of procedures and getting possibly separate results. This gave results all-in-one.

Halo: You've done PRP for Hair Regrowth and the PRP Liquid Facelift. You've seen some Before & After photos. Given a chance to do it again, would you do it again?

Jackie: Yes, I'm very satisfied. I am liking the results that I received around my eyes. I don't have the sunkenness. And around my lips, that made a big improvement. As far as the hairline, I have had reduced hair loss and hair regrowth in areas that were starting to thin. This has been a great improvement. I would definitely recommend it and do it again.

Halo: You've also done the O-shot. Did it help you with any incontinence?

Jackie: Yes, I've definitely noticed a change in incontinence. It's gotten to the point where I had almost forgotten about it because I haven't had an episode or an incident in such a long time. One day, several months later, it just occurred to me, 'Wow, it really did work,' because I hadn't had an incident in that whole time.

Case Study: 'When I look in the mirror in the morning, I feel like the best version of myself'

Sarah*, who is in her mid 30s, first came to Halo when she was looking into lip augmentation. She wanted a natural way to add volume to her lips. “I had no intention of doing anything beyond that,” she says. “Even that was a stretch for me.”

But after her initial consultation with Dr. Banerjee, Sarah did some additional research about dermal fillers and PRP and saw the appeal. Since her first visit, she’s returned to Halo for a PRP face lift in combination with dermal fillers, PRP breast rejuvenation, PRP hair regrowth and laser skin resurfacing.

“I always believed that beauty comes from the inside out, and now I believe my outside sparkles a lot more—just like the inside,” Sarah says. “I felt every time I went, I was looking younger and feeling better about myself.”

Friends and family are noticing the differences, too. While Sarah was spending time with her family recently, her sister said Sarah’s hair was growing in and looked a lot thicker. Then, Sarah sent her friend a video from a trip she’d recently taken. She hadn’t seen her friend in several months, and her friend said, “You look so bright and glowing since the last time I saw you.”

Sarah recently sent Dr. B an email, and we'd like to share it with you: “Dr. B—I want to express my deep gratitude for the services which you have provided me with over the past several months. You have accentuated my natural features, rather than adding something to my face that wasn’t there to begin with. When I look in the mirror in the morning, I feel like the best version of myself. The outside now matches how I feel on the inside, energized and eager serve and to take on life’s challenges with confidence.”

What is PRP Therapy?

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma and is a part of a category of medicine called Regenerative Medicine. In simple terms, the process involves taking a small amount of your blood, concentrating your blood’s platelets, and then injecting the resulting platelet-rich plasma into an area of your body in need of regeneration.

At Halo, we use PRP therapy to:

  • Perform non-invasive face lifts and breast lifts.
  • Spur hair regrowth.
  • Improve incontinence.
  • Boost sexual function for woman and men.

How PRP Therapy Works

PRP Therapy begins with a simple blood draw that takes under five minutes. After the platelet-rich plasma is prepared, Dr. Banerjee injects it through a micro-needle into multiple places at the site of treatment.

After treatment, it takes 4-6 weeks to start to see the results for the PRP facelift and 6-8 months to see the full impact of the PRP hair regrowth. The results last for up to 18 months.

PRP for Breast Rejuvenation

This procedure is purely PRP for rejuvenation purposes. It’s for women who are happy with their breast size, but would love to rejuvenate the skin for youthful looks, restore fullness for healthy breasts and regain sensitivity in areas where it’s diminished. PRP not only enhances the looks, it also produces new tissue in the area, resulting in better cleavage and fullness.

Why Not Implants?

Some medical professionals hold the opinion that, “if you want to enlarge your breasts, stick with the gold standard breast Implants performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon.” However, we believe that natural is the new gold. Artificial implants require incisions on the breasts, and the scars that result can take time to heal. In addition, implants may need to be replaced sometime after 10 or 20 years.

Who Has Used PRP Therapy?

PRP treatment has gained widespread recognition in the sports with athletes like Tiger woods being treated several times following knee surgery, and Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers received PRP therapy prior to winning Super Bowl XLIII.

It’s been the talk of the town in Hollywood with many high-profile actors and actresses successfully undergoing PRP cosmetic treatments.

What is the History of PRP?

PRP is Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy. Although an emerging technology and technique in sports medicine, it has been used since the mid-1990’s in dental, orthopedics, sports medicine, oral surgery to aid in soft tissue recovery following plastic surgery.

PRP has evolved and now being successfully being used as a “NATURAL” holistic alternative to cosmetic facial injections, facial fillers (Liquid face lift), for hair restoration, breast lift, treatment for incontinence, erectile dysfunction and much more.

How is PRP Administered?
PRP therapy, which takes about 20 minutes to administer, begins with collection of 30-60 milliliters of the patient’s blood depending on the procedure. The sample blood is then separated by spinning it in a centrifuge for up to 30 minutes. This process results in the platelet-rich plasma, which is rich in growth factors.

Platelets function as a natural reservoir for growth factors that are essential to repair injured tissues. The growth factors that the platelets secrete stimulate tissue recovery by increasing collagen production, enhancing tendon stem cell proliferation, and tenocyte-related gene and protein expression. These growth factors also stimulate blood flow and cause cartilage to become more firm and resilient. PRP activates tenocytes to proliferate quickly and produce collagen to repair injured tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and muscles.

Does the PRP Treatment Hurt?
The majority of PRP treatments are done with topical numbing for an hour and you will not feel anything. We numb the treatment area and in some cases do a nerve block to minimize the discomfort / sensation experienced by some. Average feelings last no more than 3 (three) minutes.

How Long Does PRP Treatment Last?
Although results vary by client, most PRP procedures last anywhere from 18 months to 3 years.

What Are the Side Effects?
Typically, there are no side effects because the procedure is done with your own blood/plasma. The worst we’ve seen and heard reports of is that the first treatment may not be very effective for a small number of patients.

However, because needles are used to do the injections, there is a possibility of bruising.

We always advise reviewing your medications with the Halo Team and stopping all supplements, including fish oils, 1 week prior to any PRP treatment.

Can I Do More than 1 Treatment Within a Year?
Yes, PRP can be done any time in an untreated area. For areas that have been treated, remember that results are not immediate. We advise our clients to wait 3-6 months before assessing results.
