Look younger with laser skin treatments, Sculptra, liquid facelift | Halo Medical Spa Northfield Wilmette

Fabulous Results with Minimal Downtime

In the past, you had to choose between a procedure that offered really great results but required a lengthy recovery, or a procedure with a fast recovery but marginal results. Now with Sciton's Halo Hybrid Fractional Laser, you get great results with minimal downtime.

Everyone’s skin is different. Everyone’s needs are different. The Halo Laser allows your clinician to customize your treatment to fit your lifestyle. Need to be back at work tomorrow? A light treatment creates smooth, vibrant skin that’s ready for makeup the next day. Want to WOW them? A more intense treatment will give your skin that youthful glow with just a few days of downtime.

We're one of only six clinics in the country with one of these custom-built Halo lasers. In fact, "Halo Medicine Clinic performs more Halo Laser treatments than any other practice in the world," according to Sciton, the laser manufacturer.

The Results Speak for Themselves

The equipment is one thing. What's more important is the difference it makes for clients like Tracy S. of Glenview, who has been coming to Halo medical spa since we opened in 2014. She likes the "more medical feel rather than the aesthetic fluff feel," she says. More importantly, she loves the results she's seen. "I've been to other salons to have stuff done, and it feels overdone. I like the natural results I get every time here at Halo."

Tracy's custom treatment program with us has included Halo Laser, Sculptra and liquid facelift treatments. Halo Laser is designed to minimize—or even reverse—years of sun damage, while Sculptra and liquid facelifts help you look younger by restoring volume to your face using naturally occurring hyaluronic acids or other natural substances.

"I've noticed a huge difference in the amount of sun damage discolorations, especially on my chest," Tracy says. "I had sun damage scars—clusters of freckles on my chest—and they're all gone." She also says the lines, or folds, by her nose are much less prominent. (The nasolabial folds are commonly known as "smile lines" or "laugh lines" and are the two skin folds that run from each side of the nose to the corners of the mouth.)

Tracy can clearly track her results because, at Halo, we do extensive before and after photos. This gives her baseline data so she can clearly see the changes over time. It also gives the doctor the ability to continuously review and refine her custom plan. This goes back to our primary goal: optimum results with minimal treatment.

"This is important because the results are subtle over time," Tracy says. "You don't remember what it was like in the beginning." (Read the full article on Tracy's experience at Halo.)

How Halo Helped One Client Look and Feel Less Tired

For our client Michele M. of Glenview, her Halo laser treatment even helped her to feel better. “I was tired of looking so tired,” says Michele, who consulted with Dr. B and decided to start with three Halo laser treatments and PRP therapy on her face and neck.

Michele noticed results right away. “Even after the first [treatment], I just felt like I wasn’t as tired,” she says. “And it felt like the right thing for me. I didn’t want anything that was too invasive. I didn’t want anything that was going to take a lot of time. I don’t wear a lot of makeup. I’m almost a no-maintenance kind of a person. So it just felt like the right thing for me. ”

Michele had first opted for some injections, but then realized she was worried about the pain. The last thing we want is for our clients to do something they are uncomfortable with, so we recommended PRP instead. Michele says she likes that we understood that and didn’t try to push her into anything she wasn’t comfortable with.

Michele couldn’t be happier with how the treatments turned out. “I really feel I got the results I was looking for. I think I look more refreshed,” she says. “I feel so much better. I look in the mirror, and I’m so happy.” (Read the full article on Michelle's experience at Halo.)

Halo Laser FAQs

What Is the Halo Laser?
The Halo laser is the world’s first hybrid laser to combine non-ablative and ablative resurfacing, which can produce dramatic results. Halo can provide you with the impactful results similar to that of our more aggressive (ablative) treatments, but with totally controllable downtime. This is exciting because you will not be required to spend a long weekend with a red, peeling, face if you want results formerly offered solely by fractional surfacing. In fact, after the Halo treatment you can leave our office wearing a light tinted sunscreen.

What Do Halo Laser Treatments Do?
Over time, your skin can lose its youthful glow due to sun exposure and your body’s natural aging process. As a result, your body may develop sun spots, fine lines, and lose it’s natural healthy glow. Previous lasers couldn’t effectively remove this damage because the treatment was either too shallow or too deep. Halo eliminates years of damage by precisely targeting the right depth.

Halo restores the luminous glow you had when you were younger, and it is safe for mixed skin types. It is also an exceptional treatment for:

  • Fine lines
  • Deep wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Acne scarring
  • Large pores
  • Melasma

Halo also precisely targets years of damage to your skin, including:

  • Discoloration
  • Sun damage
  • Visible signs of aging
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Enlarged pores
  • Poor texture
  • Fine lines*
  • Scar revision*

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Treatments tend to divide between two methods. You can choose to do one or two aggressive treatments, or you can have multiple treatments over a longer period that are less aggressive. Both can mean similar results.

How Does the Treatment Work?
About 30 to 60 minutes before the Halo laser treatment, you will receive a topical anesthetic so that you feel less of the procedure. Your face will be measured to make sure all areas are covered evenly. A Halo team member will then roll the Halo laser hand piece over the skin, section by section, until the system knows the treatment is complete.

Does Halo Laser Treatment Hurt?
Most patients will feel little discomfort, thanks to the topical anesthetic that’s applied, along with cooling technology. It’s mostly described as a feeling of heat, along with a light amount of prickling sensations. After the treatment, most patients continue to feel warm for 15 to 30 minutes, but time will vary depending on how deep the treatment went.

What Does the Downtime Look Like with Halo Laser Treatments?
You will need to keep your skin protected for the first 24 hours after treatment. A Halo team member will give you instructions to follow. After that, you can go about your life normally. After those first 24 hours, your skin will begin to peel, but not to the degree that you can’t cover it with makeup.

The first day will not reveal much change, but by the second or third day, you will have a light bronzing look. Then around the third or fourth day, your skin will peel and reveal the new skin.

When Do Results Start to Appear?
Initial results from a Halo laser treatment show between 2 and 5 days after treatment. From there, skin improves over time. Most patients see the greatest improvement of skin tone over 2 to 3 weeks. After that, there’s a dermal regeneration phase that allows for continuous improvement for months.

How Long Do Results Last?
Halo laser treatment results last for years, as long as you keep your skin protected using UV sunscreen. Multiple treatments improve the results for even better skin.
