5 Ways to Look Beautiful, Younger and Healthier in Time for the Holidays

With the holidays approaching, your in box will soon start to fill up with invitations to family parties, galas and open house gatherings. For some people, it is an anxious time of year, visiting with people you haven’t seen since the last get together. You want to enter a room feeling beautiful and confident, but the pre-winter blahs may be making you feel anything but. Don’t worry. We are here to help! Consider these 5 med spa treatments that will help you look great and boost your confidence this holiday season…

1) The Fire and Ice Facial

This 20-minute medical facial from Halo med spa is a fantastic way to get your face absolutely glowing. In LA, it’s called the Hollywood Red Carpet treatment because celebrities have these done before any big event. It’s a hybrid treatment that combines a facial and a medical peel. The last step of the facial is a regenerating mask that nourishes your skin and protects you against environmental damage. It also prepares your skin for any further treatments you may be doing, such as laser treatments, microneedling and other deeper procedures, which require skin and pores to be clean. There’s no downtime, and the treatment safely resurfaces and smooths your skin while reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

2) Botox

A simple Botox treatment can get rid of wrinkles, frown lines and crow’s feet. It typically takes about a week for the treatment to take effect, and then you should be all set for for 3-4 months.

3) Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are used to soften facial wrinkles, plump thin lips and enhance other areas that shows signs of early aging. Most dermal fillers work to show immediate results. For our clients who are over age 50, we often recommend Sculptra. It stimulates your body’s collagen production, so the results appear gradually. It usually requires three sessions over a few months to achieve the desired results. If you’d like to consider Sculptra, we recommend scheduling a consultation ASAP so we can have you ready in time for the holidays.

4) PRP Liquid Facelift

For many of our clients who are younger than 50, we recommend the PRP Liquid Facelift instead of dermal fillers. A Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Liquid Facelift is a relatively simple, reliable, and quick facial rejuvenating and skin-tightening procedure. Many people prefer a PRP Liquid Facelift to a regular facelift because you get fabulous results with no surgery or general anesthesia. The procedure comes with no downtime and has been dubbed a “lunchtime lift” because recovery is typically minimal.

5) Laser Treatments

BroadBand Light (BBL) therapy, also known as Intense Pulsed Light therapy or the photo facial, uses cutting-edge technology to produce younger looking skin that’s firmer, and more even in tone and texture. With little recovery time and no surgery, BBL offers a safe, FDA-approved option for sun damage, anti-aging, and skin rejuvenation.

How One Client Finds Relief from Sun Damage

A Fair Complexion Can Feel Unfair Under the Sun

Mary from Northbrook comes from a family that has a fair Irish complexion on both sides. That, of course, makes being in the sun tricky.

Both her parents have had skin cancer, and the kids have had to go on the defensive. “I’m the oldest of four kids,” Mary says. “All of us have fair coloring. We’ve all had stuff removed.”

Mary started with seeing a dermatologist, and then won a raffle through Halo. During her initial meeting with us, we noticed that she had a lot of skin damage from being a lifeguard as a teen and from being outside a lot. Even though she had worn sunscreen, it wasn’t enough to prevent sun damage.

The Science Behind the Treatment for Sun Damage

She liked our explanations about her skin issues and treatment options. She eventually went with our Halo Laser treatment and broadband light (BBL) treatments.

“I like the science behind Halo and their different treatments,” Mary says. “They were able to answer all my questions. It’s not some fly-by-night thing. It’s all grounded in solid science.”

Since beginning her treatments with us, Mary has seen solid improvements. Last year, her daughter got married and the family sent a Christmas card with the wedding pictures. A lot of people hadn’t seen her in a while, and Mary says they were amazed at how great she looked.

Preventive and Aesthetic

With Halo, Mary has seen “such dramatic improvements,” she says. “In fact, my dermatologist said the treatments will actually prevent some of the skin cancer down the road—stuff that you can’t even see that’s underneath the skin.”

Because of the history of skin cancer in her family, this news came as a huge relief for Mary. She’s glad she’s doing something proactively to help avoid some of the issues her parents had with their skin.

“In the old days, you were waiting to go see a dermatologist when you saw a problem,” Mary says. “But this is catching and eradicating the problems before they get worse.”

For concrete changes, Mary now sees fewer wrinkles and less redness from Rosacea. She also says her age spots have diminished.

Timewise, her Halo Laser and BBL treatments have fit right into her busy life of raising a family and work. She says there was very little downtime.

“It doesn’t take that long to do some preventive stuff,” she says. “And it’s been really, really positive. If you do this stuff now, you shouldn’t have as many issues later.”
